Description
This creamy homemade Alfredo sauce is rich, cheesy, and incredibly easy to make in just 15 minutes! Made with simple ingredients like butter, cream, and Parmesan cheese, it’s perfect for pasta, chicken, or as a dip.
Ingredients
Scale
- ½ cup unsalted butter
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 1 teaspoon garlic, minced
- 1 ½ cups grated Parmesan cheese
- ½ teaspoon salt (or to taste)
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- ¼ teaspoon nutmeg (optional)
- 1 tablespoon chopped parsley (for garnish)
Instructions
- Melt the Butter: In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter.
- Add the Garlic & Cream: Stir in the minced garlic and cook for about 30 seconds until fragrant. Then, pour in the heavy cream and bring to a gentle simmer.
- Incorporate Cheese: Reduce the heat to low and slowly add the Parmesan cheese, stirring continuously until the cheese is melted and the sauce is smooth.
- Season: Add salt, black pepper, and nutmeg (if using). Stir well.
- Thicken: Let the sauce simmer for another 2-3 minutes, stirring occasionally until it thickens.
- Serve: Remove from heat and sprinkle with fresh parsley. Serve immediately over pasta, chicken, or vegetables.
Notes
- For a lighter version, use half-and-half instead of heavy cream.
- If the sauce becomes too thick, add a splash of milk or pasta water to adjust the consistency.
- Freshly grated Parmesan cheese melts better than pre-packaged shredded cheese.
